FIRST LEGO LEAGUE
(FLL) Students 4-8 Grade
This hands-on robotics program immerses children in the exciting world of science, technology, and teamwork.
Each season, students collaborate to design and build a LEGO-based robot capable of solving a series of themed challenges.
Beyond robotics, teams develop their identity by creating a team name, designing a logo, and crafting custom team shirts—fostering creativity.
In addition to engineering and programming, students also tackle a research project inspired by the year’s theme.
This encourages innovative thinking, problem-solving,
and real-world application of STEM concepts.
FIRST TECH CHALLENGE
(FTC) Students 7-12 Grade
An exciting robotics program for students eager to explore technology, engineering, and leadership. Participants design, build, and program a robot to complete specific tasks on a competition field.
What sets this challenge apart? At each event, teams are randomly paired with other teams to form alliances—meaning collaboration and adaptability are just as critical as technical skill.
Students must consider this dynamic partnership when designing their robot, making strategy, communication, and teamwork essential to success.

The Mars Robotics Association is a nonprofit organization based in Mars, PA. Our goal is to help children of all ages explore the world of robotics. Our association is part of an organization called FIRST(For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).
We participate in two of FIRST’s four challenges. The first program we participate in is called FLL (FIRST Lego League), for students in 4th through 8th grade. In this program, students will build a robot out of Lego to solve challenges across a field. The other program is called FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge), for students in 7th-12th grade. Students build a working robot that they control to solve challenges. The programs give children skills in knowledge in STEAM to help them succeed in the world today.
